Problem: A major manufacturer of ice making machines was looking to reduce the costs of two different sizes of their machines. In both cases, the gear motor being used for ice harvesting was costing them more than necessary. This type of motor is required to operate for as little as 3.5 minutes and up to more than a day before turning off, and with varying loads.

The customer had a stringent set of test criteria including passing an accelerated life test, performance over temperature, voltage, load conditions, agency listing (UL, cUL and RoHS), noise and dimensional accuracy. To earn their business, the Power Electric gear motor was required to equal, or exceed the incumbent in all categories.

Solution: By providing gear motors that met these requirements, Power Electric was able to provide the customer with substantial cost savings without compromising performance or reliability.
